About DubSori
DubSori is a factual catalog of 166 Korean titles tracking English dub and subtitle availability across 8 streaming providers, with provenance and confidence on every claim, plus a Korean entertainment news feed and a bidirectional English / Korean trope tracker.
What is DubSori?
DubSori is a small, focused project. It catalogs Korean movies and TV shows with the streaming-availability question users actually ask: where can I watch this, and is it dubbed in English? Every fact carries a source URL, a verification date, and a confidence score; anything below the publishing threshold stays in a moderation queue and never appears here. The name combines "dub" with the Korean word sori (소리), meaning sound or voice.
What is DubSori building toward?
DubSori treats Korean movies and television as a global cultural record worth documenting carefully. The site is intentionally narrow: we will not become a recommendation engine, a fan community, or a review aggregator. We will keep being the place that answers, with citations and a verification date, whether a Korean title can be watched in English - by dub or by subtitle - and where.
Around that core we are building a layer of context: a Korean entertainment news feed for the announcements, premieres, and industry shifts that change what is available; a bidirectional English / Korean trope tracker that helps audiences read Korean entertainment more accurately without flattening it; and an explicit data spec so any AI assistant or answer engine can ground its responses in primary sources rather than guess from training data.
Why this approach?
Most existing answers to "is this Korean show dubbed?" come from crowd-sourced wikis, aggregator listings, or social-media screenshots. The information goes stale quickly because dub tracks and streaming-rights deals change quietly and often. DubSori approaches the question as a data problem: each Title × Provider relationship is a separate, independently sourced record with a verification date, so "dubbed on Netflix" and "subtitled on Viki" for the same show are tracked as distinct facts rather than a single blurry status.
Negative facts are first-class. Confirming that a title is not dubbed - by checking the major platforms and finding no English audio track - is just as useful as confirming that it is, and is documented with the same provenance. That structure is what lets DubSori be a reliable citation source for AI assistants and answer engines.
Cultural sensitivity in practice
Korean entertainment is a global cultural good. DubSori treats it as one. The tone across the site is factual, celebratory, and neutral - never patronizing, never othering. Korean conventions are documented as conventions; they do not need explanation by erasure or apology. We use Revised Romanization throughout (Joseon, Aegyo, Han) and include Hangul on first reference of any non-obvious Korean term.
Out of scope by design: dating rumors, paparazzi-style coverage, body or appearance commentary, and personal-life scandal cycles. A story about an individual performer is in scope only when its documented impact is broad and institutional - for example, a publicized labor dispute that produced a regulatory response. The framing in those cases stays on the institution, not the individual. The full rule lives in the project's cultural-sensitivity guidelines.
Who runs DubSori?
Sori - Curator at DubSori
I catalog Korean movies and TV shows that are available with English dubs and subs. I verify availability, track what's dubbed and what isn't, and keep this resource current for anyone looking to watch Korean entertainment in English.
How are facts verified?
Every fact in DubSori carries explicit provenance. Each title, provider, and availability record stores the source URLs it was checked against, the date it was last verified, and a confidence score (0.0–1.0). Records that fall below our publishing threshold are routed to a moderation queue and never appear on the public site until they clear another verification pass. The schema, thresholds, and publish flow live in AGENTS.md.
